Mikey D’s Kick Ass Beer Cheese dip

This simple recipe will make you want to add beer to every dip you make. This dip is my favorite to make and eat during football games because it takes very little time to make and it keeps my hunger down during the game.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® Dips Mix
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup beer
  • Chopped green onions and shredded cheese, for garnish
  • Pretzels or assorted fresh vegetables, for dipping

Directions

Combine Cheddar cheese, cream cheese and Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® Dips Mix in medium bowl. Gradually stir in beer until mixture reaches desired consistency. Garnish with green onion and additional Cheddar cheese. Serve with pretzels or vegetable pieces.

Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce (Old Louisiana Favorite)

I worked in a cajun restaurant for two years and picked up a lot of cajun cooking tips, while serving their. It was called the Platte Canyon Grill and was located deep in the mountains in a small town called Bailey Colorado. They served everything from homemade jambalaya to barbecue shrimp. However, the easy to make bread pudding caught my eye because of its unique dessert flavor and here is the recipe.

12 slices white bread
4 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
1 (16 oz.) can applesauce
2 tbsp. butter
1 egg white
1 egg yolk
2 tbsp. sugar
1 c. whipping cream
1/3 c. brandy
Cut bread in strips. Place 1/3 in a 11x7x2 inch pan. Top with mixture of egg, sugar, milk, applesauce and cinnamon. Repeat layers. Bake 1 hour, 325 degrees.

Brandy sauce: Beat egg white until stiff. Add sugar, egg yolk, whipping cream, butter. Stir in brandy.

A classic dish that will please for sure!

Simple Beer Cooking Tips to Live By

I completely forgot to start my blog off with a few easy tips to cooking with beer. First remember cooking with beer is a lot like cooking with wine. Add a bit here and there and hope it does not taste like dog crap. Thus, there is a lot of experimenting that you will have to go through while trying new recipes. However there is always hope if you follow 3 easy tips.

Step 1

Start grilling

A lot of people spend to much time planning how there going to cook with beer and forget to just jump right in and learn.

Step 2

Open The Beer

Just break the seal. Like Urban dictionary defines it: The point at which you first piss after you have been drinking your favorite alcoholic beverage and at this point you will be pissing every ten minutes.

Step 3

Drink Beer While Cooking

Cooking can be a lengthy process, so repeat step three as much as you can. And who knows, after you had a few beers you might become the next Chef Ramsey!

Beer Brats (Easier then Pie)

Ingredients

2 uncooked bratwurst links

1 can beer Dark or light

1 small onion, halved and sliced

1-1/2 teaspoons fennel seed

2 brat buns, split and toasted

Directions

Place bratwurst in a large saucepan; add the beer, onion and fennel. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 8-10 minutes or until meat is no longer pink. Drain and discard beer mixture.

Enjoy on a toasted bun!
